Lauren Avery is Minority and Disability Intersectional Discrimination Project Officer at Minority Rights Group International (MRG) and is also a PhD candidate in Global Development at the University of York. At MRG, her work supports national and international advocacy to address intersectional discrimination experienced by persons with disabilities with Indigenous or minority identities. Her past research focussed on the campaign for accessible public transport in Thailand and her current research focuses on intersectional disability advocacy in Brazil. Lauren holds an MA in East Asian Regional Development and an MAR in Thai Studies/Disability Studies from the University of Leeds.
